Carmelized Onion “Stuffing”

 Step up your stuffing game this Thanksgiving with delicious caramelized onions! It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser! Link in bio!

Ingredients:


  • 1 large onion or 2 small onions- chopped

  • 2 medium loaves of sough dough French bread (you can also use corn bread)

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup chicken stock

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • Handful of sage

  • 1 tablespoon of umami powder (double the Worcestershire sauce if you can’t find)

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut aminos or soy sauce

  • Olive oil for drizzling

  • Salt and pepper to taste.


Directions:


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring, for about 5 minutes. Add umami powder, coconut aminos, and Worcestershire sauce and continue to cook for about 5-10 more minutes or until onions are soft and caramelized.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, add egg, cream, chicken stock, and sage. Whisk to combine. Add in bread and onions. Season well with salt and pepper, and give it a good toss until it's well combined.

  4. Stuff the cavity of the turkey. You could also spoon it into a buttered baking dish, drizzle with olive oil, and bake until hot and crusty on top, about 30 minutes.
